2. What See the Good is
See the Good is a platform built around collective care and direct acts of support.
The main surface of the platform is the public shared account. People may contribute to it through recurring payments or once-off payments. Those Contributions form part of the Community Balance and are held and managed according to the rules and processes that apply to the platform.
The platform also allows people to make direct payments to See the Good card holders. A direct payment is associated with the relevant card holder and is separate from a Contribution to the public shared account.
See the Good is not:
- a bank account;
- a deposit-taking institution;
- a provider of credit;
- a provider of financial advice;
- a personal wallet;
- an investment product;
- a crowdfunding platform;
- a public charity marketplace; or
- a payment processor.
See the Good provides the platform and systems through which Contributions, direct card payments, cash-outs, and related records are managed. Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers.
3. About these Terms
These Terms form an agreement between you and See the Good.
You must provide information that is accurate and keep it up to date. You must not create an account for someone else without their permission, pretend to be another person, or use the service for an unlawful purpose.
You are responsible for keeping your account details and access credentials secure. Please tell us as soon as possible if you believe that someone else has accessed your account.
4. Eligibility and participating
You must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission of a parent or legal guardian, to give money through the platform.
You may use See the Good only if you are legally able to enter into an agreement.
The Community may have additional requirements for membership, contribution, or receiving support. Those requirements should be explained clearly before they apply to you.
Joining the Community does not guarantee that you will receive support. Support depends on the Community Balance, the agreed rules, the information provided in a request, and the relevant review or allocation process.
We will not ask you to give up your dignity in order to receive help. We may need information to assess, administer, or record a request, but we will handle that information according to our Privacy Policy.
5. Cards
5.1 A Card carries a unique code. That code identifies the Card and nothing else. It is not a password and is not proof of who you are.
5.2 A Card is managed through its unique code by the person who holds it. See the Good does not verify the identity of the person using a Card and cannot change the details recorded when the Card is activated or block, deactivate, or switch off the Card after activation.
5.3 Possession of a Card does not remove any age requirement, requirement for parental or legal guardian permission, or other legal requirement that applies to using the platform or giving money through it.
5.4 Once a Card is activated, the details connected to it, including the account it is linked to, cannot be changed. A Card connected to the wrong person cannot be corrected, only replaced.
5.5 Cards remain our property and may not be resold, copied, or altered.
6. Contributions and direct payments
A Contribution is a once-off or recurring payment made to the public shared account through a payment method made available to you.
Before you confirm a payment, we will show you the amount, frequency, and any other material terms that apply.
A direct payment to a See the Good card holder is separate from a Contribution to the public shared account. The card holder, payment amount, and any conditions shown to you at the time of payment will determine the intended recipient and use of that payment.
6.1 A Giver authorises an amount that may be drawn through the platform. This is a standing permission, not a single payment.
6.2 A Giver may cancel an Authorisation at any time. Cancelling stops future draws. It does not reverse money that has already moved.
6.3 Money is drawn only up to the amount authorised, and only while sufficient funds are available.
6.4 Giving is a gift. A Giver receives nothing in return, acquires no claim over the money once given, and cannot demand it back from a Card Holder.
If you choose a recurring subscription, you authorise the relevant payment provider to collect the agreed amount at the agreed intervals until the subscription is cancelled or otherwise ends.
You are responsible for making sure that your payment method is valid and that you are authorised to use it.
A failed payment may mean that your contribution is not received, your subscription is paused, or your membership is affected. We will explain what action is required where this happens.
Payments may be subject to the terms and privacy policies of the payment provider used to process them.
8. Receiving and cashing out
A Card Holder can receive money through the platform. Where cash access is available, that money can be converted into cash through a Cash-out.
8.1 A Card Holder may request a Cash-out by choosing a participating bank and an amount.
8.2 A voucher number and PIN are sent by SMS and email. They are used at the selected bank's ATM to withdraw cash. No bank account is required.
8.3 The voucher number and PIN together provide access to the cash. Anyone who has them may draw the cash. Do not share them, read them aloud in public, or send them to anyone else.
8.4 We cannot replace a voucher that has been used, shared, or seen by someone else.
8.5 Available banks, available amounts, and any applicable fees may change from time to time. We will show them before you confirm a Cash-out.
9. Requests for support
Where the platform allows members to request support from the Community Balance, you must provide information that is honest and complete to the best of your knowledge.
You must not submit a false request, submit the same request more than once without explaining why, use another person's information without permission, or attempt to influence a decision through threats, pressure, or deception.
A request may be reviewed before support is approved. Approval is not automatic.
Support may be declined, delayed, adjusted, cancelled, or subject to conditions. We will explain the applicable process as clearly as we can.
No person may approve their own support request.
10. Stories and other contributions
See the Good may allow you to share stories, photographs, messages, feedback, or other material.
You remain responsible for what you share. You must have the right to share it, and you must not share another person's personal information without a proper basis or their permission.
Please do not include information that someone would reasonably expect to remain private unless you have their permission to share it.
By submitting material to See the Good, you give us permission to store, reproduce, display, and share it as needed to operate, explain, and improve the service. We will not use your material in a way that is inconsistent with our Privacy Policy.
We may remove material that is unlawful, harmful, misleading, abusive, invasive of privacy, or inconsistent with the purpose of See the Good.
11. Acceptable use
You may not use the platform or its services unlawfully, interfere with their operation, access another person's account or Card, circumvent security measures, or engage in fraudulent activity.
You may not use the platform to launder money, move the proceeds of crime, or coerce, pressure, or exploit another person.
We may suspend accounts and refuse transactions where we reasonably suspect fraud or unlawful activity.
- break the law or help someone else to do so;
- interfere with the service or attempt to gain unauthorised access;
- use the service to deceive, defraud, threaten, or harm another person;
- submit information that you know is false or misleading;
- misuse another person's account or payment method;
- copy, sell, or exploit the service without permission;
- upload malicious code or anything that could damage the service; or
- use See the Good to promote hatred, harassment, exploitation, or violence.
We may restrict or end access where we reasonably believe that these Terms have been breached or that doing so is necessary to protect people, the Community, or the platform.
12. Intellectual property
See the Good, its name and branding, and the platform and its services, including their software, design, content, and underlying systems, belong to See the Good or are used with permission.
These Terms give you permission to use the platform for its intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership of any intellectual property to you.
You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, licence, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the platform or its services unless we have given you written permission or the law allows you to do so.
You retain ownership of material that you submit to See the Good. By submitting it, you give us the permission described in Section 10, Stories and other contributions, to use it as needed to operate, explain, and improve the platform.
If you believe that material on the platform infringes your intellectual property rights, please contact us at hello@seethegood.co.za.
13. Third-party services
Some parts of See the Good may depend on third parties, including payment providers, hosting providers, communication services, or other technical partners.
Those services may have their own terms. We are not responsible for services that are operated independently by third parties, although we will try to make the relationship between them and See the Good clear.
14. Availability and changes
We will try to keep See the Good available and working, but we cannot promise that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or available in every place.
We may change, suspend, or withdraw part of the platform or its services where this is necessary for maintenance, security, legal reasons, or the continued operation of See the Good.
We may update features, fees, policies, and these Terms. Updated Terms take effect when published on this page, unless we state a later effective date. We will change the effective date when these Terms are updated. Where a change materially affects you, we will take reasonable steps to draw it to your attention.
15. Responsibility and limitation of liability
We provide See the Good with reasonable care, but the platform cannot remove every risk from participation, payment, or receiving support.
To the extent allowed by South African law, See the Good will not be responsible for losses that could not reasonably have been anticipated, losses caused by information you provided incorrectly, or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, See the Good shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the platform.
In particular, and without limiting the above, we are not liable for loss arising from a lost or stolen Card, a voucher number or PIN disclosed to another person, or money given to a person the Giver did not intend.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes a right or protection that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude.
16. Ending your use of the platform
You may stop using See the Good at any time.
You may cancel a recurring subscription using the cancellation process made available to you. Cancellation does not necessarily reverse payments that have already been processed.
We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if continued access creates a risk to people, the Community, payment systems, or the platform.
Ending access does not erase records that we are required to keep, or information that is needed for legitimate operational, legal, accounting, or security purposes.
17. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
Any dispute should first be raised with us so that we have a reasonable opportunity to understand and resolve it. This does not prevent you from exercising any right or remedy available to you under South African law.
